As a Behavioural Support Practitioner within the Psychological Services & Interventions team, you’ll play a vital role in supporting rehabilitation and reintegration outcomes for inmates through the delivery of structured, evidence-based behavioural interventions.
You’ll be based at the Adelaide Remand Centre, a maximum-security correctional facility in the Adelaide CBD, contributing to a safer, more therapeutic, and rehabilitative correctional environment. This is a unique opportunity for a practitioner who is passionate about behaviour change, offender rehabilitation, and multidisciplinary practice within a correctional setting.
As a Behavioural Support Practitioner, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Delivering individual and group-based therapeutic interventions targeting offending behaviour, violence, and addiction-related needs
- Supporting case management through the development and implementation of behavioural management plans
- Conducting structured assessments and contributing to treatment planning and rehabilitation pathways
- Preparing clear, accurate, and defensible case notes, progress reports, and intervention summaries
- Working collaboratively with custodial staff, psychologists, and multidisciplinary teams across the site
- Supporting staff capability through contributing to training and intervention support where required
- Promoting cultural safety, dignity, and respect in all interactions with inmates and colleagues
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and evidence-based program delivery

To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science or related discipline
- Current registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) (or eligibility)
- Experience working within correctional, forensic, welfare, or institutional settings
- Experience delivering structured interventions and/or group facilitation with complex behavioural presentations
- Strong understanding of ethical and professional practice frameworks relevant to social or behavioural sciences
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality written reports and case documentation
- Sound judgement, professionalism, and the ability to manage conflict in a structured environment
- Knowledge of contemporary correctional rehabilitation principles and behaviour change frameworks (desirable)
