Make an impact at Serco

As a Psychologist at Amberley Health Centre, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting the diverse mental health needs of Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. Referrals come from a variety of sources including the member, medical team, and Command, providing a wide range of presentations and support requests.

You will conduct initial intake and assessment with flexibility to meet presenting needs. There is scope to use psychometrics and deliver treatment tailored to your skills, interests, and scope of practice. You will autonomously manage your caseload, including oversight and case management of externally referred cases and providing internal treatment. Your role also includes crisis management, risk assessment, and risk management planning within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

About ADF Health Services

In partnership with Bupa, our ADF Health Services team provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia. This includes providing defence-ready clinical and support staff across 45+ on-base locations, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.

Amberley Health Centre is located at RAAF Base Amberley — the largest Air Force base in Australia, just 50 minutes from Brisbane. The centre delivers healthcare services to over 6,500 RAAF members and includes primary medical, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, and mental health care. The standard operating hours are 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience within the last 5 years in mental health, working in a primary health or specialist mental health setting, conducting comprehensive assessments and delivering evidence-based treatments under Medicare’s Focused Psychological Strategies
• Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA requirements
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification
• Knowledge of relevant State/Territory policies and national standards governing mental health practice (desirable)
• Knowledge of the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2018-2023 (desirable)
