About ACT Health Centre  

Home to the Department of Defence Headquarters, Airforce Headquarters and Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) which is a tri-service military academy.  The Health Centre opened mid-2022 and is a large facility.  It services approximately 7000 military personnel, including trainee officers from both ADFA and Royal Military College.  There is a 24-bed low dependency ward which operates 24/7.  Services provided include primary medical, aviation & underwater medical, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical and physiotherapy. Defence Force Recruitment for medical officers is in addition to health centre roles.  Standard hours of operation are generally 0800-1600 Monday to Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts). 

This role is Monday, Thursday and Fridays, we may have some flexibility in days.

What you’ll do  

• Deliver high-quality mental health care to Defence members  

• Conducting fitness-for-duty assessments and pre/post-deployment care. 

• Undertaking assessments, interventions, formulating treatment and care plans for individuals and group education sessions  

• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical environment where patient wellness is paramount   

What you bring  

• Unrestricted AHPRA general registration as a Psychologist   

• Minimum two years’ Post Graduate experience within last five years in mental health within a Primary Healthcare Setting or Specialist Mental Health Setting   

• Comprehensive assessment skills and experience in ‘Focussed Psychological Strategies’ and ‘Psychological Therapy’ as per Medicare Schedule  

• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)  

• Australian Citizenship required for Baseline Security Clearance 

• Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care
