About the Role

Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) is an area of mostly occupational medicine (non-patient facing/non-clinical work) which provides a unique combination of drawing from previous clinical experience to determine recommendations for incoming members of the Australian Defence Force.

 

You will be responsible for supporting the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) DFR in the screening and assessment of the health suitability of people who apply to join the Australian Defence Force (ADF) by: 

Providing verbal and written advice/recommendations to Defence Force Recruiting Centre (DFRC) medical practitioners regarding the health suitability or otherwise of people who apply to join the ADF.
Making decisions regarding the health suitability or otherwise of people who apply to join the ADF.
Undertaking case reviews with findings submitted in the relevant written format including for requests such as ministerial complaint or internal audit.


To be successful in this role, you will have:

The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR, Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.
Minimum of 2 years full-time post graduate general practitioner experience (or part-time equivalent) within the last 5 years.
Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
