ACT – Registered Nurse Infection Control – ACT Headquarters – Fulltime

We are seeking an experienced Infection Control Nurse to support communicable disease surveillance, investigation and response at a strategic level within the ADF health system. 

This role combines Infection Prevention and Control expertise with core public health functions, including case investigation, contact tracing and outbreak management, influencing policy, preparedness and operational response across Defence.

About the ACT Head Quarters 

The ACT head office is administrative headquarters of the Australian Defence Force and home of Air Force Headquarters. 

 

 

What you’ll do 

  • Lead communicable disease surveillance, case investigations and contact tracing activities across the ADF health network 

  • Support outbreak detection, risk assessment and coordinated response planning at a system level 

  • Provide expert advice on infection prevention risks and mitigation strategies to senior stakeholders 

  • Prepare high quality reports, situation updates and epidemiological briefings 

  • Liaise with Defence units, public health authorities and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated responses 

  • Contribute to policy development, preparedness planning and continuous improvement initiatives 

 

What you bring 

  • Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse 

  • Minimum one year Registered Nurse experience in acute care, primary health care or military setting plus two years experience in a dedicated Infection Control position within the last 5 years 

  • Post Graduate Qualification (Certificate or Diploma) in Infection Control 

  • Current CPR certification (HLTAID009) 

  • Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance) 

  • Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient centred care
