We’re seeking Part-time and Casual Psychologists to join our multidisciplinary team at Edinburgh Health Centre, to provide high-quality care to Defence members.

ABOUT EDINBURGH HEALTH CENTRE

Edinburgh Health Centre is located 25km North of Adelaide, at RAAF Base Edinburgh. This super-base accommodates 3500 personnel from the Australian Army and RAAF, as well as being home to the RAAF Institute of Aviation Medicine.

 

The health centre operates a 16-bed low dependency ward 24/7.  It also provides primary medical, aviation medical, nursing, dental, physiotherapy, mental health, pharmaceutical and rehabilitation services. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a psychologist, you will

  • Be a key member of a multidisciplinary team within a health centre, dedicated to addressing the complex and varied mental health needs of active ADF members.
  • Be responsible for comprehensive intake and assessment, providing you with the flexibility to tailor interventions that effectively meet individual needs.
  • Apply psychometric tools and customize treatments that align with your expertise, interests, and professional scope.
  • Autonomously manage your caseload, including overseeing externally referred cases and delivering targeted treatment to Defence personnel.
  • Receive support in handling crisis situations, conducting thorough risk assessments, and developing comprehensive risk management plans—all within a collaborative, multidisciplinary framework.

 

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A current, unconditional, and unrestricted registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA.
  • Minimum of 2 years' post-graduate experience in mental health within the last 5 years, including comprehensive assessments and delivering evidence based “Focussed Psychological Strategies”.
  • A current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate (HLTAID009).
  • Familiarity with state/territory policies, national standards, and ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2018-2023 is advantageous.
  • Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain/maintain a Baseline Defence security clearance.
