About The Location
Edinburgh Health Centre is located 25km North of Adelaide, at RAAF Base Edinburgh. This super-base accommodates 3500 personnel from the Australian Army and RAAF, as well as being home to the RAAF Institute of Aviation Medicine.
The health centre operates a 16-bed low dependency ward 24/7. It also provides primary medical, aviation medical, nursing, dental, physiotherapy, mental health, pharmaceutical and rehabilitation services. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).
What you’ll do
As the psychologist, you will be a valued member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, supporting the diverse and complex mental health needs of active ADF personnel.
Your role will include:
- Conducting comprehensive intakes and psychological assessments
- Delivering evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to individual needs
- Utilising psychometric assessments in line with your scope of practice
- Managing your own caseload with a high level of professional autonomy
- Coordinating and overseeing externally referred cases
- Participating in crisis response, risk assessment, and the development of risk management plans
- Working collaboratively within a supportive multidisciplinary environment
This role offers flexibility to practice within your areas of interest and expertise, while contributing to the wellbeing and operational readiness of Defence members.
What you bring
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Unrestricted AHPRA general registration as a Psychologist
- Minimum two years’ Post Graduate experience within last five years in mental health within a Primary Healthcare Setting or Specialist Mental Health Setting
- Comprehensive assessment skills and experience in ‘Focussed Psychological Strategies’ and ‘Psychological Therapy’ as per Medicare Schedule
- Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
- Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance)
- Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care
- Australian citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence Security Clearance
