We are seeking an experienced Social Worker (Accredited Mental Health Social Worker) to join our team on a part-time basis, working Thursday and Friday (0730–1600).

About the role
In this position, you’ll play a key role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of ADF personnel within a structured primary healthcare setting.
You will:
- Deliver services aligned with the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy
- Conduct intake assessments, risk assessments, and crisis intervention
- Undertake mental health screening and assessments
- Maintain accurate clinical records, including reporting, booking, and patient recall
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
About Townsville Health Centre
Located at RAAF Base Townsville, just 6.5km from the Townsville CBD, this facility supports over 1,000 personnel, including visiting Air Force and international members.
The base is home to Black Hawk and Chinook helicopters and delivers a wide range of services including primary medical, aviation medicine, dental, nursing, mental health, physiotherapy, and pharmaceutical care.
Standard operating hours are generally 0700–1630 Monday to Thursday, with a half day Friday, depending on role requirements.
What you’ll bring
- Current membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
- Minimum 2 years’ post graduate experience in mental health within a primary care or specialist setting
- Experience conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and delivering evidence-based Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice
