Make an impact at Serco
As a medical practitioner on the health services team at Clarence Correctional Centre, you’ll make a positive impact by delivering holistic, patient-centered care to a diverse custodial population. You’ll work closely with correctional staff to treat and prevent communicable and chronic diseases, provide health education, and support reintegration into the community through continuity of care.
As a Medical Practitioner in the Health Services team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Providing high-quality medical care within a multidisciplinary team
- Provide skilled health assessments, diagnosis and treatment services to patients
- Refer inmates to external providers when care needs exceed the Centre’s capabilities, and review progress and outcomes promptly
- Treating and preventing communicable and chronic diseases
- Educating patients on health and lifestyle choices
- Take responsibility for, or contribute to the clinical supervision of Nurse Practitioners
- Supporting patient reintegration into the community
- Ensuring continuity of care for a diverse custodial population
- Working closely with correctional staff to deliver integrated care
Serco is a place for you
To be successful in this role you’ll have:
- Unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA
- 2+ years of post-graduate general practitioner experience
- Be recognised as a Fellow or working towards the same with a relevant college, or vocationally registered
- Current HLTAD009 CPR or Equivalent
- Experience in general practice, mental health, drug & alcohol, emergency care, or women’s health
- Ability to provide appropriate diagnosis and treatment
- Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms
- Cultural awareness and the ability to work with diverse populations
