About the Role

As a Mental Health Registered Nurse in the ADF, you play a vital role behind the scenes, supporting the mental well-being of our service members. Your expertise ensures the smooth operation of mental health services, from managing administrative tasks to providing crucial support to the frontline team. About the Location

Robertson Health Centre is located inside the Robertson Barracks in Holtze, 15km east of the city of Darwin. The facility has a routine dependency of approximately 2,800 defence staff, with a large reserve component. The Barracks also accommodates an additional 2,500 US marines every 6 months from May to September. The health centre provides primary medical, pharmaceutical, dental, physiotherapy, and mental health services, and operates a 22-bed 24/7 ward. Standard operating hours are 0730-1530, Monday-Friday.

About You

You're a dedicated nurse, deeply committed to delivering top-tier healthcare with a special focus on mental health. Your ability to comfort patients and exude warmth is unmatched, making you a beacon of care in their journey to wellness. You recognize the profound impact of empathy and compassion in mental health services, reflecting unwavering moral integrity in all your actions. Your passion for healthcare and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams underscores your dedication to upholding the highest standards of patient care.

As the ideal applicant, you will have:

  • A current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse in Australia with AHPRA.
  • Credentialing with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses (ACMHN), or a minimum qualification of Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing, or relevant international equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years' full-time equivalent, post graduate experience in mental health, encompassing comprehensive assessments and delivery of evidence based 'Focussed Psychological Strategies' as per the Medicare Schedule.
  • A current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
  • Familiarity with relevant State/Territory policies, national standards, and the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2018-2023 (preferred).
  • Recent engagement in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities, with a minimum of 10 hours directly related to mental health, aligned with AHPRA guidelines.
