About the ACT Health Centre

Home to the Department of Defence Headquarters, Airforce Headquarters and Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) which is a tri-service military academy.  The Health Centre opened mid-2022 and is a large facility.  It services approximately 7000 military personnel, including trainee officers from both ADFA and Royal Military College.  There is a 24-bed low dependency ward which operates 24/7.  Services provided include primary medical, aviation & underwater medical, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical and physiotherapy. Defence Force Recruitment for medical officers is in addition to health centre roles.  Standard hours of operation are generally 0800-1600 Monday to Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).

This is a fixed-term part time opportunity until July 2027 working the below roster across PM Ward, AM Ward and Day Clinic shifts:

WK1 - Monday & Friday
WK2 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
WK3 - Thursday
WK4 - Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday

What you’ll do

Deliver high quality primary healthcare, including health assessments and vaccinations or monitor and manage patients in a low dependency ward settingWork collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including general practitioners, physios, mental health clinicians, and dental professionalsSupport Defence members through injury recovery, chronic condition management, and preventative care

What you bring

  • Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered NurseMinimum one year Registered Nurse experience in acute care, primary health care or military setting
  • Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
  • Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance)
  • Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient centred care
  • Ability to work a 24/7 roster
