About the Health Centre
Located at the Larrakeyah Barracks in Darwin City. Larrakeyah Defence Precinct is a unique tri-service Defence base directly supporting ADF operations & training. It is the home port of HMAS Coonawarra for Navy Patrol Boats and two Army Landing Craft. The facility has a routine dependency of 1100 personnel which surges every 3 months to conduct pre and post deployment medicals. The health centre provides primary medical, nursing, mental health, dental, physiotherapy and pharmaceutical services. Standard operating hours are generally 07:30 – 15:30 Monday – Friday (depending on role requirements).
What you’ll do
- Keep the clinic running smoothly by providing fast, accurate, and professional clerical and administrative support to health staff and patients.
- Manage electronic and hard copy health records and data in accordance with Defence policies, privacy requirements, and compliance standards.
- Coordinate appointments and liaise effectively with internal and external health service providers to support continuity of care and timely access to patient information.
- Prepare reports, update health and personnel management systems, and assist with auditing activities to support operational and compliance requirements.
- Support day-to-day clinic operations through filing, mail distribution, photocopying, ordering stationery and stores, and processing supply requests.
What you bring
- Minimum of 1 year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) experience in an administrative role. (Medical setting highly desirable)
- Completion of a medical terminology course from a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), or willingness to complete
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Sound computer literacy and experience with electronic health record systems highly regarded.
