As a Clinical Team Leader at Clarence Correctional Centre, you’ll lead the coordination and delivery of primary health services within Australia’s largest correctional facility. This is a unique opportunity to apply your clinical expertise and leadership to deliver impactful healthcare in a complex and highly rewarding environment.

This role is suited to an experienced Registered Nurse committed to clinical leadership, governance, and high-quality care, with a strong focus on supporting a safe, respectful, and rehabilitative setting. The position operates on a rotating roster, with shifts between 7:00am–5:00pm or 12:00pm–10:00pm, including weekdays and weekends.

About the Role
As the Clinical Team Leader, you will:
• Lead and guide a team of Registered and Enrolled Nurses
• Ensure safe and effective delivery of primary and emergency care
• Provide expert clinical advice and oversight
• Support rehabilitation, safety, and respectful care across the inmate population
• Drive continuous improvement and evidence-based practice

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you’ll play a key role within the broader health leadership team. Your ability to build trust, maintain safety standards, and lead with integrity will be essential.

 

About Clarence Correctional Centre
Opened in mid-2020, this 1,700-bed, state-of-the-art facility is the largest correctional centre in Australia. Located on the NSW North Coast—approximately 6 hours from Sydney and 3.5 hours from Brisbane—the region offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle, surrounded by rainforests, sand dunes, and welcoming communities.

The centre operates with a strong focus on:
• Rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates
• Safety and security for the community
• Providing a respectful environment for staff, inmates, and visitors

 

Who You Are
You are a Registered Nurse (AHPRA) with:
• Minimum four years post-graduate experience
• Strong clinical leadership capability
• Experience in acute, emergency, rural/remote, or correctional health (preferred)
• Postgraduate qualifications (or working towards) in a relevant field
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
