As a Correctional Supervisor, you play a vital role in the ongoing success of the Centre as a member of our frontline leadership team. You’ll be responsible for the daily operational management of a designated area, while leading and supporting a team of Correctional Case Officers. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to grow your career and learn from experienced senior leaders, all while delivering outcomes aligned with the Centre’s operational policies, procedures, and legal obligations. Your leadership will be instrumental in promoting inmate rehabilitation and reintegration, maintaining the safety and security of the facility and wider community, and fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for staff, visitors, and those in our care.
You will make a positive impact by:
- Leading and mentoring Correctional Case Officers to deliver high-quality custodial care
- Managing daily operations, staffing levels, and task allocation for designated areas
- Supporting inmate rehabilitation and reintegration
- Ensuring a safe and secure environment for staff, inmates, and visitors
- Promoting Serco’s values and fostering a positive workplace culture
- Assisting with incident management, emergency response, and inmate case management
About Clarence Correctional Centre
Opened in mid-2020, this 1,700-bed state-of-the-art facility is the largest correctional Centre in Australia.
Located on the beautiful NSW North Coast, approx. 6 hours' drive from Sydney and 3.5 hours from Brisbane, our region offers rainforests, epic headlands, sand dunes, and some of the best Australian beaches with a variety of multi-cultural cafes, restaurants, and friendly community towns.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Hold a Certificate III in Correctional Practice (if a NZ qualification, must be willing to obtain this qualification within 12 months)
- Ideally hold a Certificate IV in Correctional Practice, or be prepared to complete it within 24 months
- Ideally, possess a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or demonstrate a willingness to attain this accreditation
- Have demonstrated custodial or detention centre experience
- Bring a strong operational understanding of correctional environments
- Be familiar with emergency procedures and effective inmate management practices
- Have proven experience in leading and developing teams
- Be passionate about staff development and inspired to contribute to training
This is a position of trust and responsibility, and to support this, we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes a National Police Check as an essential selection component for this role.
