About the role
As a Registered Nurse – Drug & Alcohol, you’ll provide compassionate, evidence-based care for patients with substance use issues in a correctional setting. You’ll play a key role in supporting rehabilitation and reducing harm through clinical expertise and collaboration.
Your responsibilities will include:

Conducting comprehensive assessments and managing intoxication, withdrawal, and Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST)

Developing and implementing individual care plans in consultation with doctors, psychologists, and allied health teams

Providing clinical advice and triage support on substance-related health concerns

Facilitating referrals to specialist and community services to ensure continuity of care

Leading or contributing to multidisciplinary case reviews and care planning

Ensuring all clinical documentation meets professional and legal standards

Promoting a safe, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed care environment
About you
You’re a dedicated clinician who brings empathy, professionalism, and resilience to your work. You thrive in complex settings and are passionate about improving lives through person-centred care.
To succeed, you will have:

Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (unrestricted)

Post-graduate qualifications in Drug & Alcohol or Mental Health (or working towards)

Minimum 2 years’ clinical experience in Drug & Alcohol, Mental Health, or related areas

Strong assessment, case management, and counselling skills

A commitment to delivering ethical, patient-focused care
