As a Sentence Administration Officer, you’ll provide administration and records management services relating to the detention and release of inmates at Clarence Correctional Centre.

Working as part of the Sentence Management team and reporting to the Sentence Administration Manager, you’ll process legal and court documentation, maintain accurate inmate records and liaise with courts, government agencies and teams across the Centre.

Accuracy and attention to detail are essential in this role, as the information you manage directly supports lawful detention, court appearances, releases and inmate movements.

About Clarence Correctional Centre

Opened in mid-2020, this 1,700-bed state-of-the-art facility is the largest correctional centre in Australia.

Located on the beautiful NSW North Coast, approximately 6 hours’ drive from Sydney and 3.5 hours from Brisbane, our region offers rainforests, epic headlands, sand dunes and some of Australia’s best beaches, together with vibrant multicultural cafés, restaurants and welcoming community towns.

As a Sentence Administration Officer, you’ll make a positive impact by:

 • Processing and interpreting legal and court orders relating to the detention of inmates
 • Maintaining accurate inmate information and records within OIMS
 • Preparing documentation and arrangements for inmate releases and court appearances
 • Liaising with courts to confirm outcomes and ensure information is accurately recorded
 • Facilitating bail processes and processing applications relating to bail, appeals and other legal matters
 • Liaising with government agencies and internal teams regarding inmate information
 • Maintaining registers and records in line with legislative, State and contractual requirements
 • Supporting inmate transfers and movements where required
 • Providing accurate information and advice on Sentence Administration matters while maintaining confidentiality

You’ll bring a professional and collaborative approach, strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a busy, regulated environment.

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

 • Certificate III in Business Administration, be working towards the qualification, or have relevant industry experience in a similar role
 • Experience providing administration support in a senior administration role
 • Experience in accurate data entry and data management
 • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment with competing deadlines
 • Strong Microsoft Office skills
 • Excellent attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of process compliance
 • Strong written and verbal communication skills
 • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
 • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain strict confidentiality
 • Experience within Sentence Administration and knowledge of relevant NSW legislation will be highly regarded
