About Us
ADF Health Services provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia. As part of this contract, Serco, in partnership with Bupa, provide defence-ready clinical and support staff across 50+ on-base locations nationally, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.
About the Role
You will be responsible for delivery of primary medical care to patients in accordance with professional standards, legislation, and Defence Policies and Procedures. You will form part of a multidisciplinary team working toward the shared purpose of achieving and maintaining the health and wellbeing of Defence members. You will play an integral role in assessing Defence personnel for fitness for duty and in the provision of care that will support the health and welling of members pre and post deployments. You will be required to provide medical technical advice to the Joint Health Unit (JHU) Commanding Officer (CO), Joint Health Command (JHC) Health Centre Manager and Commanders of units. You will be supported by a Team of Senior Medical Officers and uniformed colleagues. You may be required to provide the services in either an outpatient setting or inpatient care setting within a ward.
This is a permanent part time role working 1x day per week on Mondays.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Australian Citizenship for Commonwealth Baseline Security clearance requirements
- The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR, Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.
- Minimum of 2 years full-time post graduate general practitioner experience in a general practice setting within the last 5 years (or part-time equivalent).
- Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (HLTAID009) certification.
About Cairns Health Centre
Cairns Health Centre is located at HMAS Cairns, on the northern shore of Trinity Inlet and close to the CBD of Cairns. Members mainly conduct border controls and responsibility extending from Rockhampton to Thursday Island, providing maintenance, logistic and administrative support for Cairns fleet-based units. The base is home to approximately 1000 Navy and civilian personnel providing primary medical, underwater medicine, dental, nursing, and mental health services. The standard operating hours of the centre are generally 0700-1630 Monday – Thursday depending on role requirements, and a half day (5.5 hours) Friday.
