As Contract Manager – Defence Marine Support Services (DMSS), you will lead the operational delivery and performance of a complex, live Defence services contract supporting Royal Australian Navy operations.

 

This is an operational leadership role where you will be accountable for ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively and in line with contractual requirements, while leading teams, managing performance, maintaining strong customer relationships and driving continuous improvement across the contract.

 

Based at Garden Island in Sydney, you will work closely with Defence customers, operational leaders and internal teams to ensure the contract consistently delivers against its operational, financial and performance commitments.

 

As a Contract Manager (DMSS) in the Defence team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Leading the day-to-day operational delivery and overall performance of the DMSS contract
  • Taking accountability for service delivery, contract KPIs, financial performance and customer outcomes
  • Providing leadership and direction to operational teams across the contract
  • Building trusted relationships with Defence customers and key stakeholders
  • Ensuring services meet contractual, regulatory, safety, quality and governance requirements
  • Monitoring operational and financial performance and taking action where required
  • Managing workforce requirements, priorities and resources to support effective service delivery
  • Identifying and managing operational, contractual and commercial risks
  • Driving continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to improve service performance
  • Working collaboratively with internal functional teams including Finance, HR, Safety, Quality and Commercial

  • Demonstrated experience leading the operational delivery of a complex services contract, business unit or large-scale operation
  • Strong operational leadership experience with accountability for people, performance and customer outcomes
  • Experience managing against contractual KPIs, service levels and performance requirements
  • Commercial and financial acumen, including experience managing budgets, cost performance and/or P&L
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior customers and stakeholders
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in complex, regulated or high-accountability environments
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk, compliance and operational performance
  • The ability to balance strategic priorities with the practical realities of day-to-day service delivery
  • Defence, maritime, government services, facilities, transport, logistics, engineering or other complex service delivery experience would be highly regarded
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused leadership style
