We are currently seeking a full-time Dental Assistant to join our team at Lavarack Health Centre in Townsville. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality dental services supporting Australian Defence Force personnel.
About Us
Serco Australia, in partnership with Bupa, delivers integrated healthcare services to the Australian Defence Force across Australia. We provide defence-ready clinical and support staff across 50+ on-base locations nationally, ensuring ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care.
About the Location – Lavarack Health Centre
Lavarack Health Centre is located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks, the largest Army base in Australia. The base includes the Operational Deployment Force and facilities to undertake mission rehearsal exercises prior to deployment.
The health centre provides primary medical, underwater medical, surgical outpatient, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical services to approximately 8,000 members. It also operates a 24/7 inpatient low dependency ward, supporting the health and readiness of Defence personnel.
Standard operating hours are generally 0700–1630 Monday to Friday.
About the Role
- Assist Dentists, Dental Specialists and Dental Hygienists during procedures
- Implement infection control procedures within the dental surgery in accordance with National Standards and Defence policies
- Reprocess dental instruments and equipment in line with National Standards and Defence requirements
- Manage patients in accordance with approved clinical protocols
- Maintain optimal hygiene and cleanliness of the dental surgery
- Manage patient clinical records, including electronic documentation and filing, book and manage patient recalls
About You
You are a proactive and reliable Dental Assistant who enjoys working in a collaborative clinical environment and maintaining high standards of patient care and infection control.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Recent experience as a Dental Assistant (minimum of 2 years experience)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- A high level of attention to detail and commitment to infection control standards
- The ability to manage time effectively in a structured environment
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Baseline Security Clearance prior to commencement
