About Lavarack Health Centre
Located in Townsville at Lavarack Barracks, the largest Army base in Australia, Lavarack Health Centre supports approximately 8,000 ADF personnel. The base is home to the Operational Deployment Force and plays a critical role in mission rehearsal and deployment readiness. The Health Centre delivers a comprehensive range of services including primary medical, underwater medical, surgical outpatient, dental, nursing, physiotherapy, mental health, and pharmaceutical care, alongside a 24/7 inpatient low dependency ward. Standard operating hours are 0700–1630, Monday to Friday.
What you’ll do
- Work within the ADF Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy
- Conduct intake assessments, risk assessments, and crisis intervention
- Develop case formulations and treatment plans
- Deliver programmatic and evidence-based psychological interventions
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records, including reporting, bookings, and recalls
What you bring
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a General Psychologist
- Minimum 2 years full-time (or part-time equivalent) postgraduate experience in the last 5 years within a primary health or specialist mental health setting
- Demonstrated experience delivering evidence-based Focussed Psychological Strategies under the Medicare Schedule
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
- Australian Citizenship (Baseline Security Clearance required)
- Commitment to ethical, patient-centred care and ongoing CPD
