Step into a vital role at Auckland South Correctional Facility as a Senior System Engineer. You’ll be responsible for the smooth operation of critical IT and operational technology systems, ensuring security, compliance, and system reliability. This role will see you working with internal teams, vendors, and government partners to support key prison technologies and infrastructure.

As a Senior System Engineer in the Technology team, you’ll make a positive impact by:

  • Maintaining secure and resilient IT infrastructure across the facility

  • Supporting mission-critical systems including inmate management and communications

  • Leading incident response and resolving complex technical issues

  • Planning and delivering infrastructure projects and system upgrades

  • Implementing cybersecurity measures and ensuring compliance

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to align tech solutions with operational needs

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • A degree in Computer Science or similar, with relevant certifications (e.g. MCSE, AWS, Cisco)

  • At least 10 years’ experience in systems engineering and infrastructure support

  • Proven expertise in server, network, storage, and virtualisation technologies

  • Experience with cybersecurity frameworks, identity/access management, and disaster recovery

  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused approach

  • Experience with scripting/automation tools like PowerShell, Python or Ansible
