As part of our Defence Marine Support Services team, you’ll play a key role delivering safe and efficient operations across Serco’s tanker fleet. You’ll bring your marine engineering expertise to maintain vessels, support critical fuelling operations, and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
Working closely with crew and site leadership, you’ll help drive high performance and reliability across inshore operations. Your contribution supports Defence capability and meaningful outcomes every day.
As an Engineer Class III in the Serco Defence DMSS team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Operating vessels and supporting marine engineering activities
- Managing fuel transfers and monitoring tanker systems
- Maintaining vessels and completing engineering tasks
- Coordinating drills, training and onboard inductions
- Administering maintenance plans and operational systems
- Engaging professionally with customers and stakeholders

You could be a great fit if you have:
- Engineer Class III Near Coastal Certificate (AMSA)
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Demonstrating experience in maritime or vessel operations
- Applying safety, environmental, and quality standards
- Knowledge of Royal Australian Navy (RAN) operating practices and procedures
- Current Driver’s Licence (National Code Class C)
- Using basic MS Office and asset management systems
- Familiarity with vessel monitoring and stability systems
- Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of Defence Security Clearance Baseline
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) where required by the business.
- Working confidently both independently and within a team
