Make an impact at Serco
As part of our Defence Marine Support Services team, you’ll support safe and efficient inshore marine operations across a variety of locations. You’ll work closely with experienced marine professionals, contributing to vessel operations, maintenance and safety activities. This is a hands-on role where your contribution helps deliver essential services to Defence while building your skills in a supportive environment.
As a General Purpose Hand in the Inshore Operations team, you’ll make a positive impact by:
- Supporting marine operations including berthing, anchoring and cargo handling
- Assisting with vessel maintenance and machinery space activities
- Participating in drills, exercises and onboard safety procedures
- Maintaining accurate records, logs and operational documentation
- Contributing to safety compliance and environmental practices
- Engaging professionally with customers, team members and stakeholders

You could be a great fit if you have:
- A valid AMSA General-Purpose Hand Near Coastal Certificate of Competency
- A current First Aid Certificate
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- A current Driver’s Licence (desirable)

- This position carries trust and responsibility. To support this, a comprehensive probity assessment, including a National Police Check, is a key part of the selection process for this role.
- You must be an Australian Citizen to obtain Defence Security Clearance - AGSVA Baseline Clearance
