Join the Health Services team at Acacia Prison and play an important role in supporting the delivery of safe, efficient and patient-centred healthcare to people in custody.
As an Administrative Support Officer, you’ll provide essential administrative, coordination and data management support to a multidisciplinary healthcare team. From scheduling appointments and maintaining records to coordinating correspondence and supporting reporting, your work will help keep the health service running smoothly each day.
This is a casual role filling in when required onsite, based at Acacia Prison in Wooroloo.
Where you’ll be working
Acacia Prison is located in Wooroloo, approximately 55km east of Perth, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Perth Hills.
Working within a custodial environment offers something different from traditional healthcare administration. You’ll become part of a dedicated Health Services team working alongside nursing, medical and allied health professionals, as well as custodial and external stakeholders.
It’s a structured and purpose-driven environment where professionalism, confidentiality, respect and attention to detail are essential.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll support the day-to-day administration of Acacia Prison Health Services, including:
- Facilitating correspondence, scheduling, filing and records
- Coordinating healthcare appointments and clinical scheduling
- Supporting prisoner movement, communications and access to healthcare services
- Entering, collating and reporting health service data
- Maintaining accurate patient administrative records
- Preparing reports, meeting agendas, minutes and other documentation
- Managing referrals and administrative communications
- Supporting procurement, stock monitoring and resource management
- Assisting with audits, quality improvement and accreditation activities
- Working collaboratively with clinical, custodial and external stakeholders
What you’ll bring
You’ll be an organised and professional administrator who enjoys working as part of a team and can confidently manage competing priorities.
You’ll ideally have:
- Certificate III or IV in Business Administration, Health Administration or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in an administrative support role within health, institutional or corporate environments
- Strong Microsoft Office and electronic data management skills
- Experience with electronic health records such as Communicare or Best Practice is desirable
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- A professional approach to confidentiality, privacy and sensitive information
- The ability to work respectfully with a diverse range of people
Administration experience within healthcare, corrections, aged care or another institutional environment will be highly regarded.
