Your Opportunity  

The Facility Manager is responsible for the effective delivery of all Facility Management services across the contract. This role will lead and manage the engineering and technical teams, including Senior Engineers, Engineers, Team Leaders, and support staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery, compliance with statutory and contractual obligations, and achievement of performance targets. It requires strong leadership to drive operational excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction across estates services, while supporting long-term asset lifecycle management and contract growth opportunities.

 

The ideal candidate should have strong stakeholder management, commercial acumen (SLAs, KPIs, budgeting, lifecycle), and HSE/compliance orientation.

 

This role is part of the Estates Management team at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and coordinate all Estates Management services, including:

    • Planned and reactive maintenance of MEP, building fabric, specialist systems, and FF&E.

    • Assist with Variation works (fit-outs, refurbishments, and change of use).

    • Space planning moves and changes, minor churn services.

    • Document control, CAD services, and technical library management.

    • Management of Permit to Work System

  • Ensure compliance with QHSE policies, IMS procedures, UAE legislation, and best practice in the industry.

  • Lead, motivate, and develop multi-disciplinary engineering, technical, and administrative teams.

  • Monitor performance against KPI and SLA requirements, providing timely operational and technical reports to the client and internal stakeholders.

  • Manage service providers and contractors to ensure delivery to contractual standards.

  • Develop and implement initiatives to drive continuous improvement, environmental sustainability, cost optimisation, and service innovation.

  • Contribute to financial planning, budgets, and cost control activities.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and service providers.

  • Deputise for the Operations Manager when required.

 

Specific Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

  • Minimum 5 years’ managerial experience in Facilities Management.

  • Strong technical expertise in MEP service delivery and estate management.

  • Proven experience delivering and operating large-scale projects (campus or portfolio environments), including coordination across multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience within higher education or other large, complex facilities.

  • Track record of leading teams of diverse nationalities and disciplines, with clear performance management and development.

  • Solid understanding of built-environment technologies (BMS, energy management, smart systems).

  • Strong stakeholder management, commercial acumen (SLAs, KPIs, budgeting, lifecycle), and HSE/compliance orientation.

  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow / Green / Black Belt preferred.
