Your Opportunity  

The V&V and Systems Engineering Lead will lead the Verification & Validation (V&V) and systems engineering activities across the ATM modernization program, ensuring that all technical, operational, safety, integration, and regulatory requirements are fully defined, traceable, verified, validated, and aligned with program objectives, operational concepts, and regulatory expectations.

 

The role is responsible for managing the end-to-end requirements lifecycle, systems engineering assurance, integration testing oversight, technical compliance verification, and acceptance evidence management for all ATM/CNS systems and associated subsystems within a safety-critical operational airport environment.

 

Key Accountabilities

Systems Engineering & V&V Leadership

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Systems Engineering and Verification & Validation (V&V) Strategy, Plans, Procedures, Methodologies, and Acceptance Criteria across the full program lifecycle.

  • Lead requirements engineering, requirements traceability, interface management, verification planning, validation evidence management, and technical compliance assurance activities.

  • Establish and maintain the Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM) using recognized industry-standard requirements management tools such as DOORS, Jama, or equivalent platforms.

  • Ensure complete traceability between operational requirements, technical specifications, design deliverables, test procedures, test results, and operational acceptance evidence.

 

Requirements & Technical Assurance Management

  • Lead technical assurance activities for all ATM/CNS systems and integrated subsystems.

  • Review and verify system designs, technical specifications, interface control documents, test procedures, test reports, non-conformance reports, and closure evidence.

  • Ensure technical compliance with program requirements, operational concepts (CONOPS), safety requirements, regulatory standards, and contractual obligations.

  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, safety, cybersecurity, human factors, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure system readiness and technical assurance.

 

Testing & Integration Oversight

  • Develop and oversee the V&V Strategy and integrated Testing & Commissioning Plans.

  • Coordinate and oversee all testing phases including:

    • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

    • Hardware Acceptance Testing (HAT)

    • Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)

    • System Integration Testing (SIT)

    • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

    • Operational Verification (OV)

    • Operational Readiness activities

  • Support integrated operational trials, shadow operations, and transition readiness activities.

  • Ensure all systems are validated against operational scenarios, user requirements, safety objectives, and regulatory expectations.

 

Technical Risk & Defect Management

  • Lead technical issue resolution related to:

    • Requirements gaps

    • Interface risks

    • Test failures

    • Design deviations

    • Integration conflicts

    • Acceptance blockers

  • Manage defect tracking, snagging activities, corrective actions, retesting requirements, and formal closure verification.

  • Maintain V&V dashboards, technical assurance reports, evidence registers, dependencies, risks, and interface tracking mechanisms.

 

Stakeholder & Governance Support

  • Provide technical leadership and coordination across engineering teams, suppliers, contractors, operational users, and program delivery stakeholders.

  • Support program governance reviews, technical review boards, readiness reviews, and certification activities.

  • Provide technical assurance input to operational readiness, safety acceptance, certification, and final operational decision-making processes.

 

Decision-Making Authority

  • Recommend acceptance, rejection, retesting, or corrective action for systems, interfaces, deliverables, and test activities.

  • Escalate major technical, safety, operational, integration, or regulatory risks to program governance forums.

  • Provide independent technical assurance recommendations related to readiness, certification, and operational acceptance activities.

 

Specific Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in:

    • Systems Engineering

    • Aerospace Engineering

    • Electrical Engineering

    • Computer Engineering

    • Telecommunications Engineering

    • ATM/CNS Engineering

    • or related discipline.

  • Professional certification in Systems Engineering, Project Management, Aviation Systems, Safety Management, or equivalent is desirable.

 

Required Experience

  • Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience within Aviation, Airports, ATM/CNS systems, Aerospace, Defense aviation, Rail or other safety-critical transportation systems.

  • Strong experience in:

    • Systems engineering lifecycle management

    • Requirements management

    • Verification & Validation (V&V)

    • Interface management

    • Integration testing

    • Technical assurance

    • Operational acceptance

  • Proven experience in ATM modernization or mission-critical systems integration programs.

  • Experience working within operational airports or air navigation environments is highly desirable.

  • Experience with aviation regulatory, safety, operational, supplier, and contractor environments.
