Your Opportunity

The Solutions Architect / Bid Manager (Facilities Management) is responsible for interpreting client Requests for Proposals (RfPs) and developing tailored Facilities Management (FM) solutions that are operationally viable, commercially competitive, and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. This role plays a critical part in the design, costing, and articulation of FM service delivery models within bid submissions.

The successful candidate will work closely with Bid Managers, Technical SMEs, and the Commercial and Finance teams to develop solutions that address client needs, enhance operational efficiency, and meet compliance requirements while delivering a compelling value proposition.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Solution Development

  • Lead the interpretation and analysis of RfPs, ensuring a thorough understanding of client requirements and evaluation criteria.

  • Design bespoke Facilities Management (FM) solutions that integrate hard FM (mechanical and electrical services) and soft FM (cleaning, security, catering, waste management, etc.) as required and appropriate to client needs.

  • Work with operational teams and subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop cost‑effective, innovative, and scalable FM delivery models.

  • Develop solutions that enhance service efficiency, compliance, and sustainability in line with industry best practices and regulatory standards.

  • Act as the bridge between technical, commercial, and bid teams, ensuring alignment throughout solution development.

  • Engage with key suppliers, subcontractors, and partners to gather input for robust FM solutions, including technology partners, delivery partners, and strategic advisory partners.

  • Participate in client clarification meetings, site visits, and bid presentations to refine and validate proposed solutions.

Bid Strategy & Response Development

  • Collaborate with Bid Managers and Writers to ensure FM solutions are clearly articulated in bid submissions, including methodology, service delivery models, and performance management approaches.

  • Contribute to the development of win themes, differentiators, and value propositions that strengthen the company’s competitive position.

  • Assist in writing technical and operational sections of bid responses, ensuring alignment with client objectives and solution intent.

Cost & Commercial Modelling

  • Work closely with Commercial and Finance teams to develop pricing strategies and cost models that balance competitiveness with profitability.

  • Support whole‑life cost analysis to develop value‑for‑money proposals.

  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities and efficiencies through innovative FM delivery methods.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all proposed solutions comply with industry regulations, health and safety standards, and contractual obligations.

  • Work with risk management teams to identify and mitigate potential operational risks within bid submissions.

  • Support the development of contingency plans and alternative service models to address potential client concerns.

Continuous Improvement

  • Continuously improve solution development processes, tools, and templates to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Lead bid solution review sessions and post‑bid debriefs to capture lessons learned and strengthen future bid strategies.

Specific Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • Certifications in Facilities Management (e.g., IWFM, IFMA) or Bid Management (APMP) are desirable.

  • Strong experience in designing Facilities Management (FM) solutions within a bidding or pre‑sales environment.

  • Expertise in hard and soft FM services, with strong knowledge of industry trends, regulations, and best practices.

  • Ability to interpret complex RfPs and develop solutions that align with client needs.

  • Strong commercial awareness, with experience in cost modelling, service pricing, and value engineering.

  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, working effectively across bid, commercial, and operational teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), bid management software, and costing tools.

  • Ability to think strategically and balance long‑ and short‑term priorities.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to address complex issues in a timely manner.

  • Ability to understand and interpret customer needs to deliver strategic, competitive, and innovative tender responses.

  • Familiarity with building management systems (BMS), CAFM tools, and IoT‑driven FM innovations.

  • Desirable sector and market knowledge of FM/AM in any of the following fields: Citizen Services, Justice & Immigration, Defence, and Airport Operations.

  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow / Green / Black Belt preferred.
