Your Opportunity  

The AGL Engineer will provide technical support for the planning, design review, implementation, testing, commissioning, and operational transition of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) systems associated with the CAT III and A-SMGCS Level 4 Programme. Ensure that all AGL works are delivered safely and in compliance with ICAO Annex 14, ICAO Doc 9830, GCAA CARs requirements, and project specifications while maintaining operational continuity in a live airport environment.

 

The hiring for this role is subject to contract award.

 

Key Accountabilities

Design and Technical Assurance

  • Review contractor design submissions, drawings, calculations, method statements, and System Design Documents (SDD) related to AGL systems.

  • Participate in Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and technical workshops.

  • Verify compliance with ICAO, GCAA, and project requirements for runway and taxiway lighting systems.

  • Coordinate interfaces with electrical, civil, ALCMS, ILS, and A-SMGCS workstreams.

Construction and Installation Support

  • Monitor contractor installation activities related to CCRs, field lighting circuits, stop bars, guidance signs, PAPI systems, and associated infrastructure.

  • Support work packaging, possession planning, and operational continuity requirements.

  • Ensure contractor compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and work permits.

  • Coordinate with airside operations and stakeholders to minimize operational disruptions.

Testing and Commissioning

  • Support FAT, SAT, SIT, and integrated operational testing activities.

  • Witness testing and verify closure of observations and defects.

  • Review test reports and commissioning documentation.

  • Support ORAT activities and transition readiness.

Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  • Support safety assessments, MOC activities, hazard identification, and regulatory submissions.

  • Ensure compliance with GCAA AMC-59 requirements and operational constraints.

  • Assist in maintaining evidence registers and technical assurance records.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare technical reports, punch lists, progress updates, and action trackers.

  • Support preparation of as-built documentation and handover packages.

  • Participate in weekly and monthly project review meetings.

General Responsibilities

  • Coordinate effectively with contractors, OEMs, airport stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.

  • Support the Project Manager in achieving program milestones and deliverables.

  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities delegated by the Project Manager in support of the successful delivery of the CAT III & A-SMGCS Level 4 Programme.

 

Specific Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or Electronics Engineering.

  • Membership in a recognized engineering institution is desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in airport AGL systems.

  • Experience with CAT II/III airfield lighting projects is preferred.

  • Experience in brownfield airport environments and operational airfield constraints is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with ICAO Annex 14, ICAO Doc 9830, and GCAA CARs requirements.
