As a Sports Pitch Groundsman in our Grounds Maintenance team, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping local sports pitches safe, playable, and looking their best all year round. Your work will help create high-quality outdoor spaces that communities rely on and take pride in.

From seasonal pitch renovations to daily maintenance, this role has a clear purpose — supporting sport, wellbeing, and positive community impact through expertly maintained grounds. If you care about quality, teamwork, and making a visible difference, this is a role where your work truly matters.

What you’ll do as a Sports Pitch Groundsman

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Carry out daily, weekly, and monthly sports pitch maintenance in line with contract requirements
  • Operate and maintain a range of grounds maintenance machinery, including completing daily safety checks
  • Organise and implement pitch renovations to agreed standards and timescales
  • Work across different service areas where required, including sports pitches, parks, highways, and open spaces
  • Monitor performance against key performance indicators and report progress to your line manager
  • Maintain excellent relationships with clients, colleagues, and members of the public while upholding high presentation standards

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Proven knowledge and experience in sports pitch maintenance and renovation
  • Experience using grounds maintenance machinery, with tractor qualifications or relevant experience
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A strong understanding of health and safety requirements in an outdoor working environment
  • A team-focused mindset, with the confidence to share ideas and help improve service delivery

A Standard DBS check will be carried out for this position. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and warnings as permitted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be completed so we can ensure you have the necessary support to perform your duties.
