Location: HMP Ashfield, Pucklechurch, Bristol BS16 9QJ
Salary: £22,653 per annum plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Full-time 35 hours per week Monday – Friday, general working hours 6am -2.30am, but this can be flexible.

As a Cleaner in our Justice and Immigration team, you’ll play a vital role in keeping a safe, clean, and well‑maintained environment within a secure custodial setting. Your work helps ensure that colleagues and those in our care can go about their day in surroundings that support wellbeing, dignity, and trust.

This role is about more than cleaning. It’s about pride in your work, consistency you can be relied on, and contributing to an environment where high standards really matter. Every task you complete supports the smooth running of the site and has a positive impact on daily life within the prison.

 

What you’ll do as a cleaner

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Clean offices, meeting rooms, corridors, and reception areas
  • Maintain staff kitchens, washrooms, and welfare facilities
  • Carry out waste disposal and restock consumables
  • Follow health, safety, and environmental standards at all times
  • Adhere to security procedures within a prison environment
  • Complete other reasonable duties within your area of competence as required

Vetting and checks:

This role requires BPSS clearance, which involves identity verification, employment history, and criminal record checks to meet government security standards. An Occupational Health Questionnaire will also be required to ensure we can offer appropriate support for your wellbeing and performance.
