Ready to impact a better future?

As a Manoeuvring Area Safety Officer in our Hawarden Airport team, you’ll help maintain safe and efficient ground operations that support the global Airbus fleet. Your work will have purpose every day — ensuring a safe environment that enables the movement and delivery of aircraft wings, a critical part of the aviation supply chain.

You’ll join a small, motivated team that provides a flexible and high‑quality service across the airfield. Through your role, you’ll directly support airport operations and contribute to a safer future for colleagues, partners, and the wider aviation community.

What you’ll do as a Manoeuvring Area Safety Officer

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Oversee safe airside operations.
  • Carry out aerodrome surface inspections in line with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations and local procedures.
  • Undertake airside operational duties as required by the Aerodrome Authority and management.
  • Supervise aerodrome works and support night‑time supervision when required.
  • Provide vehicle escorts and issue airside permits.
  • Undertake habitat management duties and deliver airside driver training.
  • Build positive working relationships with airport departments, the aerodrome management team, external agencies, and relevant stakeholders.

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Minimum ICAO Level 4 English language.
  • A full current driving licence.
  • The ability to obtain a shotgun licence (training will be provided where required).
  • Confident use of radio‑telephony equipment and IT systems.
  • Flexibility to work night shifts when requested.
  • Be SC cleared or have no issues obating it

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
