Location: RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, OX18 3LX
Salary: £35,886.62 per annum plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Perm/FT/ 40 hours - 3 days, 3 nights - 6 days off shift pattern. 12-hour shifts - Days 07:00 to 19:00 hrs, 19:00 hrs to 07:00 hrs.24 shifts leave each year - taking the six-shifts off (one shift cycle) gives you an 18-day period away from work. There is an On-call requirement the last three days of the stand down the 3 days on Call. If called in overtime is paid at 1.5 x Hourly rate.

As an Armourer in our RAF Brize Norton team, you’ll help ensure military personnel have safe, reliable access to essential weapons and equipment. Your expertise in maintaining and managing small arms will directly support operational readiness at the Royal Air Force’s largest operating base.

Working as part of the Serco Armoury team, you’ll play an important role in maintaining security, safety, and operational capability, helping to create impactful solutions that support national defence while making a positive impact on communities and the future.

What you’ll do as an Armourer

• Store, issue and receive weapons for military personnel.
• Carry out routine inspections, checks and servicing of small arms and associated ancillary equipment.
• Diagnose and rectify faults on weapons and related equipment.
• Maintain accurate records relating to weapon storage, issue, maintenance and servicing activities.
• Ensure all armoury activities comply with relevant security, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Support operational readiness by maintaining weapon systems to required standards.

Does this sound like you?

• Qualified and experienced in working within an armoury environment.
• Hold a relevant qualification such as Military Class One Armourer or Q-W-GDSA, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of small arms maintenance, servicing and fault rectification.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team within a safety-critical environment.

Vetting and checks:

This role requires MoD Security Clearance. Due to the nature of the organisation, all employees of Serco are required to be security cleared to SC level.

If successful in your application, we would support you with the SC process.

Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance.

You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
