FM Services Officer
Location: Yarlswood IRC, Bedford, MK41 6HL
Salary: £30748per annum plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Full time 40 hours per week, working Monday – Friday 8am - 4.30pm, once training is completed on call will be require covering 1 in 10 weeks.

As a FM Services Officer in our UK and Europe Justice and Immigration Facilities Management team, you’ll help keep essential services operating smoothly so colleagues and residents can depend on safe, well‑maintained environments. Every day, your work will contribute to the delivery of facilities that support dignity, safety, and positive experiences for the people who rely on them.
You’ll be part of a multi‑skilled Works Service Team, supporting colleagues across different trades to maintain, repair, and improve facilities. Your work will directly support the wellbeing and safety of those living and working in the centre, helping create a more positive future for the communities we serve.
What you’ll do as a FM Services Officer
You’ll be entrusted to:
- Self‑motivate and manage your workload in a logical and methodical way.
- Use your initiative to meet tight timescales and shifting priorities.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues at all levels.
- Carry out duties safely, following statutory and local regulations.
- Maintain and update pre‑planned maintenance schedules.
- Support multi‑trade work across the FM team.
- Carry out routine maintenance and repairs within your skills and training.
- Safely operate machine tools and workshop equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of tools and report issues as required.
- Escort contractors around the site in line with written instructions.

Vetting and checks:
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
