Location: Derwentside Immigration Removal Centre
Salary: £25,466 – £26,739 per annum
Shift: Full-time, 40 hours per week
Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, on a rota including every other weekend
Are you passionate about cleanliness and making a real difference in your work? At Serco, we’re seeking reliable, energetic Cleaning Operative to help maintain a safe, hygienic environment for staff and residents at Derwentside IRC.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Clean and maintain office spaces, residential areas, and outdoor environments
- Use a variety of cleaning equipment safely and correctly
- Handle waste disposal, restock cleaning supplies, and report any equipment issues
- Work both independently and as part of a team
- Ensure all cleaning activities comply with Health & Safety standards (COSHH)
- Document tasks and communicate with supervisors effectively
What You Bring:
- A positive, can-do attitude with a strong work ethic
- Previous cleaning experience preferred
- Ability to follow routines and complete tasks efficiently
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Physically fit – able to lift up to 9kg and be on your feet throughout the shift
- Willingness to work a rota including alternate weekends
Important Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school education
- Successful security clearance at Counter Terrorism Check level
- Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau check (Home Office approval required)
