Salary: £27,300 per annum plus excellent benefits
Schedule: 40 hours per week- 7.30am- 7:30pm shifts- 4 on 4 off (must be flexible to work weekends and weekdays)

As a Kitchen Assistant in our Asylum accommodation and Support Services, you’ll help deliver safe, nutritious and culturally appropriate meals within the Initial Accommodation setting. You’ll work as part of a supportive catering team, playing an important role in ensuring food is prepared, stored and served in line with all relevant regulations and standards.

Your work will help create impactful solutions by supporting people in a sensitive environment, maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene, and contributing to a respectful, inclusive and caring service that makes a positive impact each day.

 

What you’ll do as a Kitchen Assistant


You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Work with the Field Operations Manager and Catering team to deliver catering services across the establishment, complying with all Health and Safety and Food Safety regulations.
  • Assist with preparing and providing varied, healthy meals, including support for special diets, religious requirements and special events.
  • Support food preparation, production and general kitchen cleaning as required.
  • Ensure the safety and security of food during delivery, storage and distribution within the kitchen.
  • Dispose of and recycle food waste using approved methods.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records in line with food hygiene, HACCP, Health and Safety and company policies.
  • Support the catering team in responding to complaints and identifying trends constructively.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties in line with the role and your capabilities.

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

 

  • Hold Level 2 Food Safety certificate- essential
  • A commitment to working within Justice and Immigration services.
  • Experience working in a people‑centred, socially diverse environment with a strong team ethic.
  • A good working knowledge of large‑scale catering operations, ideally with experience in a similar role.
  • Willingness to complete Level 2 Allergens in Catering training during your probation period.
  • A positive, flexible approach and the ability to work well as part of a team.

 

Vetting and checks:

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
