Ready to impact a better future?
As a Religious Visitor (Hindu) in our Justice and Immigration team, you’ll play a meaningful role in providing person‑centred spiritual care to residents and colleagues. You’ll help create a sense of hope, trust, and direction for people navigating challenging circumstances, contributing to a more supportive and compassionate environment.

Your work will make a positive impact by supporting the wellbeing of residents from diverse backgrounds, ensuring individuals can practise their faith and access appropriate guidance. You’ll also help strengthen our multi‑faith provision, creating space for dignity, connection, and shared understanding across the centre.

What you’ll do as a Religious Visitor
You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Provide pastoral care and ensure the spiritual welfare of residents and colleagues.
  • Offer faith‑specific advice and support the observance of religious holy days and festivals.
  • Acquire and distribute appropriate religious literature, supplies, and materials.
  • Facilitate Hindu faith services and contribute meaningfully to chaplaincy meetings and forums.
  • Work closely with Security and Safer Custody teams to support issues such as suicide and self‑harm awareness and violence reduction.
  • Deliver statutory religious induction duties.
  • Participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings, including Safer Custody, Security, and Wing forums.
  • Ensure chaplaincy facilities and equipment are maintained appropriately.
  • Take responsibility for your own spiritual development, including time for prayer, study, and retreat.
  • Support the effective administration of chaplaincy and provide mentoring and support to colleagues and volunteers.

Does this sound like you?
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have…

  • Experience delivering religious services within your own faith, ideally in a custodial environment.
  • A forward‑thinking and innovative approach to faith‑based service delivery.
  • Strong pastoral and spiritual leadership skills.
  • A working knowledge of other faiths to operate effectively in a multi‑faith environment.
  • The ability to meet the minimum faith eligibility criteria of your faith tradition.

Vetting and checks
This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
