Ready to impact a better future?

As a Business Administrator Apprentice in our Defence, Space and Security team, you’ll help keep vital operations running smoothly by supporting colleagues and customers across a busy and purpose-driven environment. Your work will have a clear and positive impact on how our services support national defence and the wider community.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring front-of-house excellence and efficient administrative support across IMOS and AESAS contracts. Through hands-on experience, mentoring, and structured learning, you’ll build the confidence, skills, and capability you need to grow your career while contributing to work that genuinely touches lives.

What you’ll do as a Business Administrator Apprentice

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Welcome visitors, issue passes and access cards, and provide on-site induction
  • Organise meeting rooms, including arranging refreshments when needed
  • Monitor and restock office supplies such as stationery, beverages, cleaning materials and printer consumables
  • Support onboarding processes for new colleagues
  • Enter timesheets for colleagues across the site
  • Process and administer purchase orders, invoices and vendor information
  • Manage incoming and outgoing post and use a corporate credit card for purchasing when required

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • The ability to complete a Serco‑funded NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration
  • Confidence communicating with a wide range of colleagues and customers
  • Basic knowledge of IT applications including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
