Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, GB, HP3 0NZ
Electronic Monitoring Officer - HMP The Mount
£27,202 per annum pro rata | 30 hours per week | Permanent | Monday to Friday | Company Car | Immediate Start
Make a difference every day.
We’re looking for people to join our Electronic Monitoring team in a new prison-based role, helping individuals prepare for release by fitting electronic monitoring equipment before they leave prison. No previous electronic monitoring or prison experience is needed. We’ll give you the training, support and hands-on experience you need to become confident in the role.
The important bits
-
£27,202 per annum pro rata for 30 hours per week
-
Company car provided
-
Permanent position
-
Monday to Friday, 7am to 1pm
-
You’ll be contractually home based, travelling to your designated prison site each day
-
You’ll be paid for your travel time from 7am and will need to be on site at the prison ready to start from 8am
-
You must live within approximately one hour's travel of the prison site(s) you’ll support
-
No previous experience needed as full training and ongoing support provided
About the role
This is a little different to our traditional Electronic Monitoring Field Officer role. Rather than visiting individuals in their homes to fit electronic monitoring equipment, you’ll be tagging at source, working within prison establishments to fit equipment to individuals before they are released from custody.
You’ll make sure equipment is fitted correctly, explain the process clearly and professionally, and help ensure everything is in place for the individual’s release into the community.
Every day can be different, and you’ll play an important role in helping our Electronic Monitoring Service operate safely and effectively.
Training and getting you ready for the role
You don't need previous experience, we’ll teach you what you need to know and give you plenty of support while you build your confidence. Flexibility during the training and shadowing period is essential.
Your initial training will include:
-
3 weeks initial training:
-
-
Monday to Wednesday 9am to 5pm at location to be agreed
-
-
-
You must be able to travel and stay away from home during this period if required
-
-
-
Where overnight stays are required for training, travel and accommodation will be provided, subject to terms
-
-
-
1 evening shift per week alongside experienced Field Monitoring Officers (FMOs), giving you hands-on experience. These shifts will be from 5pm to 1am and arranged as locally to you as possible.
-
-
Once initial training is complete, you’ll undertake 4 weeks of on-the-job learning, shadowing experienced Field Monitoring Officers (FMOs) as locally to you as possible. This will help you build your practical knowledge and confidence before moving into your prison-based role.
-
-
You’ll work 6-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, which will include both day and evening shifts, so flexibility during this period is essential. Typical day shifts are start at 8am and evening shifts usually start from 5pm, but you’ll work 6 hours of the relevant shift each day.
-
Once you've completed your training and shadowing, you'll move into your usual prison-based working pattern, Monday to Friday, 7am to 1pm. There may be occasions when you are required to support Field Monitoring Officer duties in the community. Where this is required, you will be given advance notice so you can plan accordingly.
