Electrical Technician

University Hospital South Bucks

Full time – 37.5 hours per week. Monday – Friday, 0800 – 1600 hours.

 On call rota 1 in 5

Salary – up to £45,000.00 depending on experience plus Serco benefits.

Serco are recruiting for an Electrical Technician to join our team based in University Hospital South Bucks. This role will be to provide safe and efficient maintenance of the electrical services and equipment within the hospital as directed by Estates Supervisors and Management.

Main Accountabilities: 

  • To carry out reactive repairs, fault finding, servicing commissioning and maintenance to a wide range of Services, Plant and Equipment within all areas of the Hospital as directed by Supervisors or Managers.
  • Plans, schedules major interruptions, maintenance activities, co-ordinates work of contractors
  • Analysis and diagnosis of faults in complex, multi-faceted equipment
  • To carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance to a wide range of Plant and Equipment.
  • To work in accordance with all relevant Serco Policies & Procedures, Workplace Regulations and Best Practice Guidelines.
  • To take a proactive approach to the development and review of Health & Safety systems, work instructions and working practices.
  • To always work in a safe and responsible manner with full regard for own and other’s safety.
  • To attend work in compliance with the Computerised Time & Attendance System.
  • To use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • To be prepared to attend work or work beyond expected finishing time in exceptional circumstances, as requested by Supervisors or Managers.
  • Communicate to Supervisors or Managers unrepaired faults or defects or requirements for Spare Parts.
  • To attend on-site and off-site training as required.
  • To be aware of how the Technician Role influences Serco’s Contract.
  • Contract and the wider company objectives.
  • Be prepared to take on Authorised Person Duties which could include but not limited to High Voltage, Low Voltage, Lifts, Confined spaces (All training will be provided).
  • Requirement to work Monday - Friday to cover on site operational hours of 08:00 – 17:00.
  • Be part of an on-call rota from 17:00 – 08:00 outside normal operating hours.

 

What you’ll need to do the role: 

Completion of a recognised appropriate Electrical Apprenticeship or other relevant structured Training Program

  • Certificate of Higher education.
  • Higher Level Certificate (HNC).
  • Level 4 Certificate/Diploma/Certificate.
  • Level 4 NVQ. 
  • Member of appropriate technical body.
  • Authorised Person Duties
  • Proven experience of working in a similar environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Electrical Building Services. 
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Must undertake Authorised Person Duties additional to salary.
  • Multi-Skilled Engineer.
  • Specialist Engineer.
  • Approved Electrician.
  • Member of appropriate technical body.
