Location: Amersham Hospital, Amersham, HP7 0JD
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 pro rata depending on experience plus Serco benefits
Schedule: Fulltime 37.5 hours per week, flexible working different shifts

As a Maintenance Assistant in our UK and E Health team, you’ll help keep essential hospital environments safe, functional, and ready to support patient care. Every day, you’ll play a part in work that touches lives and strengthens the quality of healthcare services.
You’ll support the upkeep of the building fabric, plant, and equipment to ensure a well maintained, resilient environment for colleagues, patients, and visitors. Your work will help create the reliable spaces people depend on — and contribute to a healthier future for the communities we serve.
What you’ll do as a Maintenance Assistant
You’ll be entrusted to:

Carry out reactive repairs, defect work, servicing, commissioning, and maintenance across a wide range of hospital plant and equipment.

Complete Planned Preventive Maintenance activities to support safe and reliable operations.

Follow all Serco policies, procedures, workplace regulations, and bestpractice guidelines.

Take a proactive approach to health and safety, reviewing systems and working practices to ensure continuous improvement.

Work safely at all times, using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Communicate promptly with supervisors or managers regarding unresolved faults, defects, or parts requirements.

Attend onsite and offsite training as needed to support your development.
Does this sound like you?
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

Level 2 NVQ or Level 2 National/Diploma Certificate.

Experience working in a similar environment, ideally within building services.

Knowledge and understanding of building services systems.

Strong communication and customer service skills.
-
Confidence working at height and using ladders or tower scaffolds.
Vetting and checks:
An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
