Senior Communications and Stakeholder Manager- Health Assessment Advisory Service

Salary £60,000- £70,000 dependent upon experience

Monday- Friday 37.5 hours per week

We are now seeking a Senior Communications and Stakeholder Manager to join our team. In this role, you will lead communications and engagement activity for the Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) contract, within Serco’s Citizens Services business unit.

You will be responsible for overseeing both strategic and operational engagement with a wide range of stakeholders, including the DWP, LOT partners, supply chain partners, charities, advocacy groups, and other external organisations. Your work will ensure that all communications activity effectively supports both contract delivery and the broader objectives of the Citizens Services business.

The successful candidate will also contribute to the development and delivery of the Citizens Services–wide communications and engagement strategy, ensuring that messaging, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management for HAAS are consistently aligned, impactful, and well‑executed at a contract level.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain a co-ordinated approach to Serco’s wider engagement with government and stakeholders. 
  • Increase Serco’s competitive advantage within this market through successful analysis of non-market engagement and identifying potential risks, opportunities, and impacts.  
  • Proactively seek opportunities to highlight and build on Serco’s reputation as a trusted supplier of public services to government within this market. 
  • Develop a strategy to increase and effectively market Serco’s brand presence in the HAAS market. 
  • Proactively work with communications and marketing teams across Serco to develop an improved external brand for HAAS as well as any strategic communications. 
  • Support and contribute to any public announcements on behalf of HAAS SMT, working with Serco Group’s Media Relations team. 
  • Design and deliver HAAS external affairs strategy and stakeholder engagement procedure, as part of the wider Citizens Services comms and engagement strategy 
  • Develop, map, and track a network of high-level political contacts, including government ministers and officials, agencies, trade bodies and thought leaders. 
  • Support and advise the Contract Director on external communications. 
  • Work as part of wider Community Services comms and engagement team to ensure alignment between internal and external messages. 
  • Appropriately co-ordinate, influence, and coach senior leaders within contract as they engage with Governments. 
  • Represent Serco to key customers externally, including government officials, trade-bodies, and parliamentarians.  
  • Understand, own and be a passionate and proactive role model for Serco’s values.  

 

What you’ll need to do the role:

Knowledge and Experience 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the UK policy and political landscape, as well as government functions at a national, devolved, and local level.  
  • Experience of working in a government department or working in a similar external affairs role.  
  • Track-record of high-profile political and government engagement and strategy development in a complex stakeholder environment. 
  • A demonstrable ability to develop productive relationships across a variety of seniority levels and portfolio areas, both internally and externally.  
  • Experience of copy writing for external audiences. 
  • Experience of developing communications plans and strategies.  

Skills

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.   
  • Critical thinking, analytical and decision-making skills. 
  • Advanced MS Office Skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 
  • CRM database management.  
  • Copywriting skills. 
  • Flexible to travel across UK contracts.
