Schedule:
Permanent, 36 hours over 7 days, flexible shifts available. Varied shift times covering days, nights, evenings and weekends, working 5 days over 7 (Monday to Sunday)

As a Hospital Porter in our healthcare services team, you’ll provide an essential portering and logistics service across Forth Valley Royal Hospital, helping patients, colleagues and visitors every day. Your work will support safe patient journeys, smooth hospital operations and the delivery of high-quality care.

What you'll do as a Hospital Porter

  • Escort patients and visitors safely throughout the hospital using wheelchairs, beds and trolleys.
  • Support safe and comfortable patient journeys while providing courteous and empathetic assistance.
  • Transport medical records, mail, linen, furniture, gasses, and other essential items across the hospital.
  • Collect, segregate and dispose of waste in line with established procedures and safety requirements.
  • Operate and use equipment and systems including electronic task allocation tools and portering equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare colleagues to ensure services run efficiently and patient care remains the priority.

  • You have strong verbal communication skills and can interact confidently with patients, visitors and colleagues.
  • You take pride in delivering excellent customer service with care, empathy and professionalism.
  • You can work independently, manage changing priorities and respond positively in a busy environment.
  • You understand the importance of safety, confidentiality and following procedures.
  • You are physically able to undertake a role that involves regular walking, moving equipment and supporting patient transfers

Vetting and checks:

This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme, which involves a detailed check of spent and unspent convictions and other relevant information to ensure safeguarding compliance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can provide any necessary support to help you carry out your responsibilities.
