Salary - £35,795.55

Here at Serco, we are looking for a training Lead to join the team at our new state of the art Category C prison, HMP Fosse Way.

 

The main role of the training lead is to manage the facilitation processes for the provision of training to all staff within the contract, as well as maintaining accurate training records for all staff and provide statistical information in relation to training both required and provided.

 

The successful candidate will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities, and duties:

 

  • Facilitate the effective delivery of all training within the contract including Initial Training Courses (ITCs) for Prisoner Custody Officers and Operational Support Officers, and Induction Programmes for non operational staff and external agencies 
  • Ensure all training modules and materials meet the standards required by Serco and HMPS policy, as advised by Training & Development Business Partner 
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of all on-site training, ensuring Training Officers are efficiently scheduled and training venues are appropriate
  • Ensure that all equipment and learning resources are fit for purpose and available as required
  • Ensure that accurate and auditable training records are kept in line with national requirements
  • Provide statistical information to HMP Fosse Way’s Training Committee through a monthly report and attendance at the bi-monthly Training Committee meeting
  • Ensure Training Committee meetings are scheduled in line with Terms of Reference and invites are sent to individuals or departments who are required to attend
  • Ensure all attendees at internal or external training events receive all necessary information / documentation prior to attendance
  • Ensure all training evaluation documentation is collated, analysed, and recorded after all training events
  • Ensure Purchase Orders for training providers are requested, making use of limit orders for multiple bookings where required.
  • Participate in any functional meetings where training delivery is discussed
  • Manage all databases containing information tracking training, development and recruitment activity
  • Work with the Finance Business Partner to monitor costs of training activity and exploit opportunities for efficiencies
  • Liaise with external training providers as required
  • Monitor eLearning requirements and ensure candidates have access to eLearning activity via the Serco LMS platform
  • Work with functional heads and the Training & Development Business Partner to formulate an Annual Training Plan
  • Deliver training programmes as appropriate and required
  • Manage the delivery of nationally accredited qualifications as part of initial and ongoing training in line with requirements set out by awarding bodies
  • Ensure staff reporting to the training Manager are subject to Serco performance management through the My Catch Up process
  • Maintain operational CPD by regularly taking part in operational duties, as directed by your line manager 

 

What you will need to do the role

  • Must hold a Level 5 qualification in Learning & Development or be prepared to complete a Level 5 Learning & Development Apprenticeship programme
  • Must hold a Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) qualification, or complete within 6 months of starting in the role 
  • Must complete Prisoner Custody Officer (PCO) Initial Training if not already qualified, and must complete the PCO Portfolio in the probationary period
  • Must complete the Custodial Operations Manager portfolio within 12 months of taking up post
  • Must be proficient in the use of IT platforms to manage and manipulate data to present management information
  • Must be well organised with ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and a team-working ethic
  • Must evidence a commitment to continuous professional development
