Location: NorthLink Ferries, Lerwick ZE1 0PR
Salary: £14.10 per hour plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Fixed term contract until October, working 4 hours per day (flexible start time between 7.30am – 10am), variable shift patterns available offering flexible hours (includes weekends)

As a Cleaning Operative in our NorthLink Ferries team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming environments across our vessels, terminal buildings, and port facilities. Your work helps create a positive experience for everyone who travels with us.

What you’ll do as a Cleaning Operative
You’ll be entrusted to:

Thoroughly clean and sanitise guest cabins, including making beds, changing linens, vacuuming, dusting, and replenishing amenities.

Clean and maintain public areas such as corridors, lounges, toilets, stairways, terminal buildings, and office areas.

Support laundry duties when required, including sorting bedding and towels.

Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and guest amenities, reporting low stock levels when needed.

Follow all company policies relating to cleanliness, hygiene, and safety, using cleaning chemicals responsibly.

Provide friendly and courteous service to passengers, maintaining a professional appearance.

Work effectively with colleagues to complete tasks efficiently and support wider team goals.

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience, ideally in a hotel or similar environment.

The ability to work in a fast paced setting with strong attention to detail.

A positive work ethic and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to follow instructions and adhere to company standards.
