Location: RAF Coningsby, LN4 4TG
Salary: £32,122.22 plus 15% shift allowance per annum and benefits
Schedule: Full time, permanent – 39 hours per week. Two weeks day shift (07:00 – 15:45), followed by two weeks night shift (15:45 – 02:45). Further details to be discussed at interview
Here at Serco, we are currently recruiting a Paint Sprayer to join our team at RAF Coningsby. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out painting and finishing activities in support of the MoD, delivering high-quality surface finishes across a wide range of assets.
This role involves a variety of surface preparation and finishing tasks, including abrading, paint stripping, DMS/PMS abrasive blasting, masking, cleaning and pre-treatment, as well as the application of associated finishes to MoD aircraft, components and ground equipment.
The Paint Sprayer must fully comply with all Quality, Health, Safety, Environmental and Aviation Safety requirements. You will be responsible for identifying and reporting any anomalies, failures, defects or corrosion that could result in reduced quality standards or pose a risk to Aviation Safety.

Main responsibilities of the role include:
- Performing surface finishing tasks in line with quality policy procedures and required standards.
- Carrying out manual (abrading), chemical and media paint removal processes on aircraft, aircraft components and a range of MoD ground assets prior to repainting.
- Applying high-quality paint finishes to aircraft, aircraft components and MoD assets using a range of paint schemes and modern paint application equipment.
- Ensuring all health and safety requirements, including COSHH regulations and risk assessments, are strictly followed, and controlling access to work areas to prevent unauthorised entry.
- Ensuring paints and associated materials are correctly stored in accordance with handling and storage instructions.
- Challenging and reporting unsafe or unapproved behaviours and practices, including stopping work where unsafe methods or deviations from approved processes are identified.
What you’ll need to do the role:
- Relevant experience as a RAF Painter & Finisher tradesperson or a time-served civilian equivalent within an aircraft or automotive body shop environment.
- A full UK driving licence.
- The ability to follow detailed procedures and work instructions accurately.
- Desirable: NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering (Surface Finish pathway) or an equivalent qualification.
