Your work will help create impactful solutions by embedding best practice, strengthening governance and supporting a safe, inclusive and compliant working environment. Through trusted relationships and a hands‑on approach, you’ll support operational teams to deliver services that make a positive impact on local communities.

What you’ll do as an Operational Compliance Coordinator

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Support the management team to implement and maintain local procedures and controls in line with the Serco Management System.
  • Proactively promote Serco’s governing principles and positively influence colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
  • Support Health and Safety management, ensuring compliance with policy, standards and key controls, including accurate incident reporting on ASSURE.
  • Act as the Serco Data Protection Champion for the contract, ensuring compliance with data protection and GDPR requirements.
  • Maintain Quality Management Systems and regularly review and update the risk register.
  • Carry out internal reviews to ensure controls are operating effectively and risks are appropriately managed.
  • Prepare for and support internal and external audits, including ISO standards, risk management, customer service excellence, data protection and Serco Group audits.
  • Complete follow‑up actions from audits and compliance reviews within agreed timescales, producing reports and presentations as required.
  • Assess current systems and recommend improvements to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead compliance for learning and development, including mandatory training, Serco Essentials and local contract curriculum requirements.
  • Ensure training records are maintained and updated within the Learning Management System in a safe and cost‑effective way.
  • Support employee relations compliance, working with HR where required to ensure adherence to policies and operating models.
  • Lead activity around the annual employee engagement survey, supporting action plans and engagement initiatives.
  • Track compliance related to absence management, welfare and annual leave, ensuring alignment with working time regulations and wellbeing priorities.
  • Embed diversity and inclusion into compliance, training and culture, supporting awareness and understanding across teams.
  • Work collaboratively across the contract and within the team, covering mandatory tasks when needed to ensure continuity of service delivery.

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Experience in HR or employee relation management.
  • Experience in administration, coordination or compliance‑focused roles.
  • Strong IT skills, with confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • The ability to balance priorities, multitask and work effectively under pressure.
  • A flexible, professional and positive approach, with good interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a wider team.
  • The ability to assess risk, support decision‑making and deliver against objectives.
  • Experience of waste management systems (desirable but not essential).
