Household Recycling Operative

Location: Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, SL6 1AY
Salary: £14.86 per hour plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Fixed Term Contract 3-months, Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Sunday (rota) Summer shift times 8am to 8pm, Winter shift times 8am to 4.30pm.

As a Household Recycling Operative in our Waste Management team, you’ll play a vital role in helping communities recycle responsibly, keeping sites safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone who visits.

By guiding members of the public and promoting correct waste segregation, you’ll help increase recycling quality, reduce contamination, and contribute to a cleaner future we can all be proud of.
What you’ll do as a Household Recycling Operative
You’ll be entrusted to:
- Assist with opening and closing the household waste recycling site in line with site procedures
- Support members of the public to dispose of waste safely and recycle correctly
- Promote recycling and environmental awareness to site users
- Monitor waste segregation and remove contamination where necessary
- Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organisation across the site
- Use plant, tools, and equipment safely and in line with training and instructions

- A strong customer service mindset and enjoy working with the public
- A practical understanding of waste types and recycling, or the willingness to learn
- Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy
- Physical fitness and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions
- A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Vetting and checks:
As well as checking eligibility to work in the UK, you will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
