As an Technical Manager in our Serco Defence Typhoon Propulsion Support team, you’ll provide technical leadership and governance for propulsion maintenance that keeps the RAF Typhoon EJ200 Engine fleet safe, compliant and mission ready.

This is a safety-critical role where your expertise directly supports frontline operations and national defence capability. Working within a regulated Royal Air Force and Ministry of Defence aviation environment, you’ll act as the on-site technical manager for EJ200 propulsion, ensuring every decision, process and outcome meets the highest standards of airworthiness, safety and trust.

 

What you’ll do as an Technical Manager

 

You’ll be entrusted to:

  • Lead and govern EJ200 propulsion maintenance activities on site
  • Assure airworthiness, safety and regulatory compliance across all propulsion tasks
  • Manage technical risk, including escalation and resolution of complex issues
  • Maintain configuration control, data integrity and audit-ready technical records
  • Oversee tooling, calibration and maintenance documentation governance
  • Drive continuous improvement through defect trend analysis and corrective actions
  • Provide technical supervision and performance leadership to propulsion technicians
  • Build strong working relationships with RAF, Ministry of Defence and airworthiness stakeholders

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

 

Essential experience 

 

• EJ200 engine experience or comparable fast-jet propulsion system 
• Regulated aviation maintenance environment experience 
• Strong technical leadership and decision-making capability 
• Aviation maintenance documentation and configuration control knowledge 
• Experience using aviation or maintenance IT systems 
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills 
• Full UK driving license 

 

Desirable 

 

• Military aviation or airworthiness governance experience 
• Electronic work pack and maintenance system familiarity 
• Continuous improvement or quality assurance background 

 

 

 

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
