Security Officer
Location: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), NR4 7UQ
Salary: AFC Band 3 £12.75 per hour plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Permanent, Full-time, 33.25 hours per week – 4 on, 4 off days (05:30–15:30 and 13:30–22:30)

What you’ll do as a Security Officer
You’ll be entrusted to:
• Act as the first line emergency response to security situations across the hospital site and to violent and aggressive incidents
• Monitor CCTV systems and manage access control to maintain a secure environment
• Respond to alarms and incidents, using conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
• Escort patients, visitors, and colleagues when required, ensuring dignity and respect
• Complete accurate reports, maintain logs, and comply with all relevant standards and codes of conduct
• Collaborate with external agencies during emergencies and always uphold patient confidentiality
You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:
• A valid Door Supervisor Licence (mandatory)
• CCTV licence (desirable)
• First Aid qualification (mandatory)
• Experience as a Security Officer in corporate or healthcare settings
• Strong customer focus and ability to work in diverse environments
• Excellent communication, report writing, and IT skills
An Enhanced DBS check and BPSS is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. It also includes identity verification, employment history, and criminal record checks to meet government security standards. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
