As a Waste Coordinator in our Great Western Hospital Facilities Management team, you’ll help ensure waste services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with legal and environmental requirements. Your work will support a clean, safe, and compliant healthcare environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.

What you’ll do as a Waste Coordinator

 

  • Coordinate the day-to-day management of waste services across Great Western Hospital, ensuring activities are completed to agreed standards and schedules.
  • Manage relationships with third-party waste contractors and collection providers to support effective service delivery.
  • Drive compliance with waste legislation, duty of care requirements, and organisational policies across the waste supply chain.
  • Carry out audits, inspections, and supplier reviews to support safe, compliant, and high-quality services.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, increase recycling, promote reuse, and support innovation in line with the waste hierarchy.
  • Deliver training, guidance, and awareness activities that help improve environmental performance, trust, and compliance across the site.

 

Does this sound like you?

 

  • Strong IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Waste background with an understanding of waste streams, waste legislation, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, Infection Prevention and Control, and Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Organised, adaptable, and able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Clean UK Driving Licence

Vetting and checks:

An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role. This includes spent and unspent convictions, cautions, and any relevant information held by local police, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and safeguarding requirements. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to allow us to provide any support needed for you to succeed in the role.
